形態特徵

• Medium-sized tree, glabrous, rare, up to 12 m tall; branches dark brown, longitudinally reticulately striate when dry, about 2 mm across; young branches grey brown.
• Leaves alternate, thin coriaceous, oblong-elliptic 14-17 cm long, 7-9 cm wide, green brown when dry, acuminate at apex, subrounded at base, polished above, dull beneath; midrib plane above, strongly elevated beneath; primary lateral veins 8-9 paired, angulated about 45° from midrib, suddenly curvely ascending toward margins; secondary veinlets very rare, reticulate nerves distinct when dry on both sides.
• Inflorescences axillary with 1-6 flowers, peduncles 1-1.5 cm long, pedicels 2-3 cm long, glabrous to scattered with short hairs; sepals 3, 3-5 mm long, rounded or triangular rounded; petals 6, 2-seriate, green to yellowish green after, narrowly lanceolate, 6-7 cm long;
• Fruit-bearing peduncles, about 2 cm long, 5 mm across; receptacles ellipsoid 1.5 cm high, 2.5 cm across at the tip of peduncle; fruit-bearing pedicles about 2.5-3 cm long. Drupes berried, ellipsoid, black when maturity, rounded on both sides, about 1.7-2.5 cm long, 1.5-2 cm across, longitudinally bi-sulcate; endosperm regularly lamellate-ruminate.

分布

• 台灣 : at NE. Tongchin and SW. Wannanfong of Lanyu Is.
• 世界 : S. Ryukyus, such as Isls. Iriomote, Nishimote and Hateruma, at low land thicket on coral rock.
